Google Takes On Facebook With New Social Network

Internet search giant Google has launched its new social networking service called Google+. This is part of yet another effort from the company, to claim a share in the lucrative social networking space dominated by Facebook. Google+ not only lets users post photos, videos, messages, comments, etc, but also will bring “real-world interactions” and “real-life sharing” online, according to the company.

CloudShark Brings SaaS to Network Packet Capture Analysis

Many of you are familiar with the packet capture tools Ethereal, Netscout’s Snifffer or Wireshark. All of these are very useful for debugging network-related problems. The problem is that you have to run one of these tools on a computer with special drivers to enable the capture, and sharing the reports isn’t always easy, especially on mobile devices. In case Pi Day wasn’t enough, here’s ‘Tau Day’

On the Internet, anything can be the basis for a holiday — even a number.

You may recall that the day honoring the number Pi — which is March 14 (3/14 … get it?) — has become a worldwide phenomenon. Pi Day now features pie-eating contests, digit recitations and educational games.

And now, just when you thought the math holiday season was over, it’s time for Tau Day!

There’s a movement afoot online to celebrate tau, approximately 6.28, instead of the familiar constant pi, which is 3.14.

Pi — just think back to grade school — is the ratio of circumference to diameter of a circle.

Animation shows NASA’s next Mars Rover in action (VIDEO)

The 11-minute long animation shows sequences such as the spacecraft separating from its launch vehicle near Earth and the mission’s rover, “Curiosity”, zapping rocks with a laser and examining samples of powdered rock on Mars, NASA said.

The animation provides detailed views of the spacecraft. Based on stereo images taken by earlier missions, the animation also provides scenes of real places on Mars.

“The animation also provides an exciting view of this mission for any fan of adventure and exploration”, said Mars Science Laboratory Project Manager Pete Theisinger at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California.

“Curiosity” will land on Mars in August next year for a two-year mission.

Members shared their vision of the Internet in 2020

Researchers team of Internet Explorer 9 decided to ask users what would be a global network of over 9 years. Residents of 12 countries, including Russia, have offered to answer all three questions about the future of the World Wide Web. A study on the MSN found that the confidentiality of data – an important issue for Internet users. Thus, 42% of Internet users do not want their personal data were to third parties, and 61% of respondents from different countries experiencing anxiety that major corporations will follow them. More than half of people feel that the safety and security of personal information by the year 2020 will be in jeopardy because of the flourishing of online crime. Full Article…
